The Urbana Public Works Department has a policy to remove all snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to City-owned buildings and property.
The City Sidewalk Snow Removal Zone Ordinance requires that property owners in the identified snow removal districts clear the adjacent public sidewalks of snow and ice.
Property owners must clear the sidewalk within 24 hours of a declaration by the Public Works Director. After a winter storm, local media outlets and the City’s website will include notices that the sidewalk clearance requirements are in effect. The Sidewalk Snow Removal District maps can be found below.

If you wish to employ a snow removal service for sidewalk snow clearance, please consult the local telephone directory.
