Our very own Jason Deseno – under the direction of Jon Higar – was awarded an Outstanding Community Partner Award for 2025 by the International Student and Scholar Services at the University of Illinois.
According to Troy Richmond, Urbana's Public Facilities Supervisor, "Jason started in the meter department on July 7, 2025, and has excelled in all aspects of the position under the direct training of Jon Higar, our other Meter Maintenance Technician, who just happens to have started in April 2025. I cannot express enough how well the two of them work together for the department, while both only having limited experience under their short tenure. This award is a direct reflection of their work ethic and positive attitude towards a job that often doesn’t get any recognition for the work they perform."
The ISSS Awards honor the remarkable dedication, exceptional service, and significant contributions of our campus and community members in supporting international education at the University of Illinois. These annual awards express our deep appreciation for individuals and groups who make our campus a welcoming, globally engaged environment. Deseno and Higar were honored at the 2025 ISSS Awards Ceremony at the I-Hotel and Conference Center earlier this week!
