Weather permitting, Varsity Striping & Construction Company will begin work on the City of Urbana’s Lincoln Avenue Complete Streets Demonstration project on Monday, June 15 at 7:00 a.m. This project will include removal and replacement of painted pavement markings on North Lincoln Avenue between Killarney Street and Fairview Avenue.
This work will require intermittent lane shifts during construction. Two-way traffic and access to all local properties will be maintained for the duration of the project. The result of this work will be a reconfiguration of the roadway striping, from three vehicular travel lanes to four.
This project is funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program and is intended to provide safety improvements for all roadway users. This conversion back to four lanes will complete the demonstration portion of the project, which will inform the future design of Lincoln Avenue.
