The origin: The Urbana Welcome logo was born from a simple yet powerful idea: that everyone, no matter their background, should feel seen, valued, and truly at home in our community. To reflect this, the word “welcome” was translated into some of the languages of the many nationalities who call Urbana home and arranged into a heart-shaped word cloud with the City of Urbana logo at its center. Each word represents a culture, a story, and a neighbor, forming the heart of our city.
The design is both literal and deeply symbolic, serving as a visual reminder that while Urbana welcomes in many languages, it speaks with one shared spirit of belonging.
