The Alternative Response Task Force (ARTF) Community Engagement Events were an early opportunity for the community to provide feedback, perspectives, and ideas about alternative responses to public safety. Community input will help Urbana and its consultant, the Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), develop a practical and community-informed alternative response model.
Events were held on May 1 and June 27, 2026.
Public Participation
Community Engagement Events were open to the public, and attendees were encouraged to participate in the discussion. Members of the public were permitted to record the events, provided that doing so did not interfere with others' ability to see or hear the proceedings.
Individuals needing accommodations or wishing to provide public input were encouraged to contact the City Clerk's Office at least 48 hours in advance by:
- Phone: 217-384-2366
- Email: CityClerk [at] urbanail.gov (CityClerk[at]urbanail[dot]gov)
- In person during normal business hours
All Alternative Response Task Force (ARTF) meetings and event locations, including Urbana City Hall Council Chambers, Lincoln Square Mall, and the Independent Media Center (IMC), were accessible.
