Major activities of the Legal Division include:
- Representing the City, its officers, and its staff in all legal matters before the courts and in administrative proceedings
- Prosecuting and enforcing all municipal ordinance violations
- Reviewing all ordinances and resolutions presented to the City Council and all other legal documents to which the City is a signatory
- Providing written legal opinions and advice to City elected officials, boards and commissions, and staff
- Preparing and processing all legal matters for the acquisition and disposition of the City’s real and personal property
- Preparing and processing claims for collection from damage to City property and other debts owed to the City
- Reviewing legal documents and providing legal opinions for the issuance of municipal bonds and other financial matters
