The Library Board of Trustees approves an annual budget for the library and requests the corresponding levy from the Urbana City Council. The Library Board of Trustees also is charged with setting policy for the library, anticipating and directing the development of future library services, and hiring the Executive Director.
The board includes nine members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members serve three year terms.
All members must be residents of the City of Urbana. No more than one board member may also be a member of the City Council.
The board meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at The Urbana Free Library or via Zoom. Please check the agenda for more information. Meetings are open to the public.
