Pay Parking Tickets

Parking customers have seven days to pay for a ticket at the original amount. After seven days from the date issued, a late fee will be added to the original fine. After 30 days from the date the ticket was issued, an additional late fee will be added.

If you have any problems processing your ticket payment, please contact the Human Resources and Finance Department at 217-384-2346.

You can pay online here. When paying online, we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

You also can mail a check or money order (not cash) to the following address:

City of Urbana
400 South Vine St.
Urbana, IL 61801

Guidelines for Disputing a Ticket

When appealing a parking violation, there must be evidence showing that it was not committed or occurred due to circumstances beyond the customer's control. Those appealing a ticket must provide valid documentation of the evidence when submitting the appeal. When appealing a MobileMeter violation, please also include the MobileMeter transaction number.

The following reasons are not considered valid as a basis for appeal:

  • Lack of knowledge of the parking regulations
  • Failure to read the posted signs
  • Parking illegally for only a short time
  • Failure by the parking officer to ticket the vehicle previously for similar offenses
  • Being late to class, work, or an appointment
  • Inability to pay the fine amount
  • Having no other place to park
  • Payment for the wrong space
How to Dispute a Ticket

If you question the validity of a parking ticket for some other reason, such as a meter malfunction, please use the online Parking Ticket Appeal Form to contest the ticket. The appropriate supervisor will receive your dispute for investigation.

Disputes are processed in the order received. If you haven't received a response after 30 days, please call the Human Resources and Finance Department at 217-384-2346.

If the ticket is ruled invalid, you will receive a response notifying you that the ticket is void and any payment made will be refunded.

If the ticket is ruled valid, you will receive a response explaining why the ticket is valid. You will have seven days from then to pay the original fine amount.
